latest @ citywell

Starting Monday October 12, 2020 through Monday November 2, 2020; we as a church community are being led to Fast and Pray. We will pray and engage in Monday communal prayer through our virtual prayer meetings at 8pm. We will engage in a church fast reminiscent to that of Daniel (Daniel 10:2-3). We will discuss the CityWell covenant (Insert link to CityWell Covenant) during Sunday Worship.

21 Days of Prayer

During this time, we ask that you will pray for our church family; specifically how we are to move forward as an anti-racist fully affirming church who embraces our covenant. As part of praying for the church I also ask that you would think about your current commitment to the church and by November 1, 2020. We ask that you will pray for an affordable vaccine for COVID-19 and for there to be an end to the deaths from the virus and for healing for all who are sick. Lastly, for all to be able to exercise their right to vote, for a favorable outcome to the November 3rd election, and for justice to prevail. Please join us for Monday night prayer by clicking the link on the website.

Fast like Daniel

In the book of Daniel, the prophet fasts, prayers, mourns, and repents unto the Lord on behalf of the people. Daniel says, “At that time, I, Daniel, had been mourning for three weeks. I had eaten no rich food, no meat, or wine had entered my mouth, and I had not anointed myself at all, for the full three weeks. (Daniel 10:2-3) This is considered a partial fast: fruits, vegetables, legumes, whole grains and water are consumed. Alcohol, meat, and processed foods are to be avoided during the fast. *Please note*: If you have dietary restrictions, see your doctor for consultation and/or think about an alternative fast. An alternative fast can also be observed for those who have battled with eating disorders. Such fasts may include limiting social media, desserts/sweets/sugar, and NetFlix/Hulu.

The point is this, to abstain from something, to make a sacrifice to draw closer to God.
